A note from Said The Whale's Tyler about their new album HAWAII....
Just to let you know that our new album 'Hawaii' is officially out now....
You can buy the album on iTunes here.
Non iTunes digital copies and physical copies can be purchased here.
OR you can visit your local record store in North America. If they aren't stocking the record, you should be able to order if from them.
A quick word about purchasing music, if I may, just to clarify a few things:
1. When you pay for our music (rather than illegally downloading it), we actually receive quite a large portion of that money, contrary to some theories we've heard. We are on an independent record label, so there is no "big company" taking a huge cut and screwing us in any way. It's just the five of us and a small label who has all sunk a lot of money into our career. You paying for our music is HUGELY beneficial to the longevity of our band.
2. People sometimes ask us what method of purchase is the most beneficial to us - the answer is that it doesn't really matter. Most retailers (be it online or physical) take approximately the same percentage, so just make a purchase wherever you feel most comfortable purchasing.
3. Spotify and other streaming services pay us essentially nothing, but they are great for discovering new music!
All that is not to say that we think you suck if you illegally download music - we understand that the market value of recorded music is in a steady decline, and that a lot of people are simply used to downloading music for free without thinking about it. We just want to make you aware that your habits as a consumer actually do affect our lives. If you purchase our music, know that we are eternally grateful for your financial support. If you download it for free, know that we are grateful for your ears, and hope that you can make it out to a show one of these days. We really do love you either way.
