Great news folks, Big Country are only on tour RIGHT NOW and they are looking forward to playing across the UK. 

The tour opens up tonight in Preston, then the guys head all over the place, down through the midlands, Bristol, Exeter, onto Falmouth and Swansea then back up the South coast stopping off in Brighton and Southend-on-Sea prior to hitting the midlands prior to ending up 'oop North' in Grimsby and Doncaster.....quite a trek between now and the 9th November (I hope they aren't all crammed into one Transit van).

Big Country were formed in 1981 in Dunfermline (Fife), comprising of original members Stuart Adamson (Vocals/Guitar), Bruce Watson (Guitar), Tony Butler (Bass) and Mark Brzezicki (Drums). 

The height of the band's popularity was in the 1980s, although it retained a cult following for many years after. The band's music was most recognisable for the sounds it infused with Scottish folk and martial music styles, as well as for playing and engineering their guitar driven sound to evoke the inspirational spirit of bagpipes, fiddles and other traditional folk instruments.

Following the sad passing of Stuart Adamson in December 2001, a memorial to Adamson was held at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall in January 2002, followed by a tribute concert at the Barrowlands (Glasgow) in May. It brought together the remaining members of both Big Country and The Skids; Adamson's teenage children, Callum and Kirsten; as well as Steve Harley, Runrig, Simon Townshend, Midge Ure and Bill Nelson.

In 2007, to celebrate 25 years of Big Country, founding members Bruce Watson, Tony Butler (now lead vocalist for the first time), and Mark Brzezicki reunited to embark on a tour of the UK with dates in Scotland and England and a gig in Cologne (Germany).

The surviving original members toured again in late December 2010 and January 2011 with Mike Peters of The Alarm and Jamie Watson (Bruce's son), added to the lineup.

In January 2013, the band announced on their website that they had completed recording a new 12-track studio album entitled The Journey, this was released on April 30, 2013.

So, there we have it, a potted history of the band, 9 albums since they started their journey, they are still out there, gigging all over the place and making people smile.
