MELLOR - EP 'One Of The Faces' due 28th October....
Mellor is a Reading four piece band bringing their dynamic mix of Pop Smack and nostalgic jive appeal up to the present day. “One Of The Faces” EP is their 3rd self release, musically combining big catchy choruses, swinging rhythms, strong guitar riffs and nostalgic sounds along with the darker mystical rock mood of “Animals”.
Lead track “Never Saw Her Leave” bursts out with its upbeat catchy guitar riff and retro vibe. The video sees the young band performing in a small room with animal print and red velvet lined walls, with the drum kit even sporting a leopard look. This kitsch backdrop with the pink neon seedy lighting compliments the intensity and urgency of the song with a passionate performance from the band.
Catching the eye of BBC Introducing after just one gig, Mellor spent their first year sharing stages with the likes of The Kooks, Pete Doherty and KT Tunstall. Whilst clocking up fans with their unrelenting gig assault on towns across the UK they also released their first two singles with incredible support: NME, Artrocker, Drowned in Sound, Q and Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio.
“Who knows what their EP will sound like, but I can tell you that, no matter what, the song craft will be top notch” – Linda Serck (BBC6 Music)
“The four-piece band, hailing from Reading, are what I’d imagine would happen if a scientist combined The Libertines with The Beatles – a kind of indie rock ‘n’ roll. It’s about time real music was played again.” AAA Music ( 5 star review) ★★★★★
“Some 60′s esque music that’s not to reminiscent of The Kinks and The Beatles and comes all the way from…Reading” London On The Inside
