DEBUT SINGLE FROM ALLA RAY, ‘ON FIRE’ SET FOR RELEASE JANUARY 26TH 2014

Pint size singer-songwriter, Alla Ray, is set to release her debut single ‘On Fire’ this December. No stranger to the music industry, Alla Ray has been on a journey that has enabled her to write not just the single, but a further five infectious tracks for her up-coming EP of the same name.

Like all born entertainers, Alla Ray’s earliest memory is of wanting to perform. The daughter of a professional dancer, she clearly recalls “being backstage with my mother, desperately wanting to try on her dresses and ballet shoes.”

But it was Alla’s male relatives who inadvertently fired her ambitions of pop stardom. At a time when Western music wasn’t easily heard in her native Russia, her scientist father built radio equipment capable of picking up British and American stations, bringing the likes of The Beatles, Elton John and George Michael into the family home.

The dye cast, Alla’s dreams of emulating her mother’s career changed direction. Alla’s initial vocal inspirations were jazz greats like Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald (her second name is a tip of the hat to Ray Charles) but soon came to encompass rock giants like Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury, from whom she also learned a lot about stagecraft.

But pop stardom was always Alla Ray’s destiny. Her first UK show, at London’s Dingwalls, led to support slots on a number of arena tours in the UK and Europe.

Alla Ray is now writing material that represents her growth as a songwriter. It’s particularly important that her songs come from the heart “I always insist on writing about my own emotions and experiences”, she says, and has even penned a track called Revenge about a close family member’s infidelity.

But like the lady herself, Alla Ray’s music is overwhelmingly upbeat. Her debut single, ‘On Fire’, is a case in point; a gorgeous slice of dance-pop about the sheer rush of being young, alive, and in love.

The single itself is infectious and energetic enough to become a dancefloor anthem, and with a remix package featuring Grammy nominated remixers such as David Aude (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady GaGa) and K Klass (Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue), alongside contributions from up and coming remixers, Nathan C (Example) and Tom Stephan (Missy Elliot, Basement Jaxx), there really is something for everyone.
