'TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE ROCK STAR' LULLABY VERSIONS OF THE BLACK KEYS Roma Music Group Out Now

OK readers, time for your injection of 'what the fuck'! By all accounts, this isn't a new Black Keys album, but rather some re-workings that are designed, presumably, to send your Black Keys loving newborn or toddler to the land of nod.

Quite how extreme a parent you would have to be to buy this and use it for parental tasks is debatable, but I'm assuming this LP hasn't yet gone platinum. As an aside, you don't even have to be a fan of The Black Keys to get on the lullaby version bandwagon, oh no - most big name groups have such a compilation nowadays. A quick trawl of Spotify reveals the likes of Tool, Stevie Wonder, Slipknot, Social Distortion, Dropkick Murphys, Pearl Jam and Guns 'n' Roses have undergone the sleepy-bye-bye time treatment.

I'm not sure if these albums are designed as a joke, or as a serious item for inclusion in jaded rock fans' music collections for when they need to lay off the JD and fags and get their eight-hours shuteye. If you're a Black Keys junkie - which I'm not - I really can't comment on how similar these versions are. From checking out similar collections for other bands, it seems the general template is to slow the song down to a snail's pace, remove any form of instrumentation that featured on the original song, and replace it with someone pinging a triangle and a xylophone.

But if you think this might be something you'd like, please don't let me stop you spending a tenner on it. For everyone else, avoid like the fucking plague. Oh God, I've just seen Beck has a lullabies album as well. The horror, the horror.
