‘Forward Thinking‘ bubbles and fizzes upbeat, catchy, garage-pop with barbed wit and bruised-but-unbroken resolve. It’s the first single to be taken from their debut album ‘Self Help‘ scheduled for release this September, recorded in Chem19 studios in Glasgow in early 2013, with producer Jamie Savage.

Born in Northern Ireland, Young Aviators sing songs about what it is to be young in Britain today. Theirs are sardonic songs about failure, rejection, stagnation and unrealised potential. About feeling trapped by economics or facing a future of McJob. New single ‘Forward Thinking’ is written from the heart and born out of the post-graduate experience of debt and poverty; ironically though, this track is a strong contender for the most upbeat tune of the summer.

"Forward Thinking is a song about feeling trapped” says singer/guitarist Declan McKay. “It was written in a time of personal anxiety and failure against a wider culture of failure and anxiety. It embraces the humour that comes from this despondency in its angry groove, barking vocals and chorus chant. It is an escape song.”

The band have previously released two singles on Electric Honey Records, 'The Question Is' and the insanely catchy single ‘Hollywood Won’t Feed The Kids’. The Scottish label, run by students in Glasgow needs no introduction. They have launched some of Scotland’s biggest bands over the years including Belle & Sebastian, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol, King Creosote, The Pastels, Teenage Fanclub and many more.

Now in its 20th year, label owner Ken McCluskey is ready to watch Young Aviators add much more to the success of their roster: "Here at Electric Honey Records of Stow College there is a real buzz about the place with the launch of Young Aviators debut album "Self Help". It is being launched to coincide with our 20th anniversary year celebrations of what must be the most successful student run record label ever to have existed. The lads in the band have worked well with the students on this project and Young Aviators deserve to be up there with the great Electric Honey acts of the past such as Belle and Sebastian, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol. Long may they rock".

Young Aviators new single ‘Forward Thinking’ will be released digitally on July 15th.
