There are moments when records are played which trigger the inside emotions, there are moments when a breath is trapped in exhale, The Cinema EP is one of those moments and is brought to you by a four piece from Newcastle, the home of the bigg market, Quayside and now Bernaccia.

A neo psychedelic blues rock band, which is a mouthful at the best of times, hits the right chords, developing a sound over the past couple of years giving a mature and breath of fresh air for the music world.

Armada is the opening track, this would easily fit into a Robert Rodriguez movie, it's dark, the beat is slow; it sends a chill to places that shouldn’t have chills. The soulful vocals of Jonny Noble are immense, Chris Cox on the drums adds a beat that moulds this dark like gospel tune that emerges through a smoke filled whisky bar in the outskirts of México where Salma Hayek dances on the table; the dark blues music adds intensity to a scene within the mind.

Track 2 leads into a nice repetitive drum beat, louder than the previous song, hair is let down to hear the lyrics “I cannot lie” a rhythm guitar riff shines that is reminiscent of The Verve (Jonny Noble also has a Richard Ashcroft influence within his vocals). Circuit Ryder (oh my) is the middle child, it wants to be noticed but doesn’t want the recognition but the cohesion of Jonny Noble (Rhythm and Vocals), Stew Falkous (Lead Guitar), Chris Cox (Drums), Kieran Healy (Bass) is heart thumping music that can do little else. Bernaccia have soul in abundance and they know how to bear it.

Moving on to the final tune No Home for the Buffalo starts off similar to the previous track, a moody drum beat with Jonny Noble using his blues voice to coincide with the guitar sound in the background, nice riffs coming from these guys that makes a heart skip a beat. The haunting feeling of this track feels inspired by The Doors. This sound matures nicely throughout the EP.

There is something special that has been heard here, something special indeed.

This EP will thrust these guys to a new epilogue of existence, they have a sound that can be meditative,  dark and also atmospheric. The haunting chants, the blues riffs, this band have something spectacular.

Bill Hicks once said, “Listen, the next revolution is gonna be a revolution of ideas.” With a band such as Bernaccia (Bern-a-see-a) this is the case and more is yet to come.
