FAUXCHISELS unleash a video for 'Thunderbugs In My Beard'....
Just unleashed on YouTube is the debut video proper from Birmingham/Wolverhampton fun-loving boy/girl combo FAUXCHISELS.
The video accompanies a new single mix of the band’s Thunderbugs In My Beard song – which was released as download only (on the usual sites) on April 16th 2014.
Directed by the band’s own Paul Broome (for Kosmische Wave Films), the video reflects the brash colourful nature of the song – which in a roundabout way is an acerbic dissection of the on-going sexism prevalent in rock music.
Paul has also recently directed videos for rising bands Them Wolves, Wax Futures and VICTOR (...the latter to be released soon soon).
The band recently made their live debut (at the Wax Futures EP launch), and are currently lining up gigs for the rest of 2014.
About FAUXCHISELS:
Taking direct inspiration from various bands in the local West Midlands scene, and having a deep-seated love of all things noisy, Paul set about putting the band together in August 2013 with no greater desire than to have some fun, write some songs, do some shouting and play some gigs. The band’s first EP released ‘The Shape of Fauxchisels To Come’ was released on December 16th 2013.
“To see bands surfacing in recent years with influences so clearly in sync with my own – influences like Big Black, Alice Donut, Killdozer, Fugazi and The Jesus Lizard – has been a real galvanising force in my desire to get out there and start contributing, rather than just watching other people do it. So many of the Birmingham- and Wolverhampton-based bands seem to enjoy what they do so much, that I felt like I was missing out. So FAUXCHISELS is our little contribution to the fun.” says Paul. “The early reaction has been so overwhelmingly positive that we already feel like we’ve been welcomed into one of the kindest, noisiest and most quirkily dysfunctional families around.”
The debut EP ‘the shape of FAUXCHISELS to come’ features 5 rough-and-ready tracks – recorded DIY style in the Midlands before being mixed onto 1/2” tape in a studio in California (as a favour) - and is available to download and on a very limited numbered run of 50 CDs (in a natural DOMAKESAYINK screen-printed card case... just a handful left now) from http://fauxchisels.bandcamp.com.
