INTRODUCING NORTHANTS BASED HARDCORE PUNK BAND THE LOST CHILDREN
The Lost Children formed in 2007 and come from the small market towns of Kettering and Corby in Northamptonshire. Their views and sound, however, are not quite so small....
From what can only be described as a "f*cking onslaught", they exploded onto the underground local scene, supporting the likes of Raging Speedhorn, Devil Sold His Soul, Sonic Boom Six, Mirimar Disaster, Fei Comodo and recently Bam Margera's F*ckface Unstoppable they have prospered, engaging with many of these headline crowds.
This is honest hardcore/punk straight from the working mans heart.
We caught up with the guys whilst trawling some stalls at the Wednesday flea market (in Meadow Road, Kettering), Michael and Drew were bang up for purchasing an original 1970's soda stream machine complete with a bottle of Ginger Beer syrup, Jake and Alex had their eyes on a Rolf Harris Stylophone. Whilst the two couples were debating on whose purchase would have a greater impact for the band, we steamed in with some questions....
Please introduce the band and your music in one sentence....
A four piece fucking onslaught.
Where did you record your debut album ‘Land Of Do As You Please’ and what made you choose that studio?
We recorded our debut album with our good friend and producer Glen Wetherell at Rockingham Studios in Corby, Northants. Home turf and an awesome studio and live room.
When did you realise you wanted to start a Hardcore Punk band?
When we realised the world sucked and we were full of angst. Not much has changed…
You guys were on a three year hiatus from The Lost Children, what happened during that period?
No one knows really, we all got lost somewhere… We guess life got in the way.
How has social media aided your music?
It has helped us to offend more narrow minded people and relate with a minority of sharp thinkers. So we’re not sure it has!
What is the best advice you ever received and who was it from?
“Don’t cross the streams” – Harold Ramis RIP
What does music mean to you?
Fun. Passion.
‘Plausibility Deniable’ and ‘Fathers for Justice’ are heavy tunes, can you tell us about the story behind these songs?
Being british we like irony so can you tell us? That or ramblings manifested in absurd observations.
First gig you ever went to?
Probably a home town show of local bands. Big scene in Northants.
Do you own a record that you wouldn’t like to admit you have?
Rebecca Black, Justin Bieber…the usual.
Is there something you would like to tell each of the band members that you haven’t told them before?
Well there seems to be a lot of icy silences. In fact there’s one right now.
What classic song would you have liked to have recorded and why?
“Ace of spades”- Motorhead. Classic riff.
Who would you like to know has your music on their iPod, MP3 or stereo cassette recorder?
Gandhi
If you could describe your music in the form of a fictional character, who would it be?
Anonymous - V For Vendetta
Do you think we can ever live in a world where a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned?
Guess it depends on how much money is on the other side of the road…?
The guys were still in the middle of debating whose purchase would add more value to the band, Jake and Alex were hell bent on the Stylophone becoming a staple part of their next record, Michael and Drew were standing their ground, saying that the Soda Stream would refresh them during sweaty band practices and allow them to think on their feet quicker and thus produce better music. We thought we'd best get in with some quick fire questions before things got nasty....
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi
Mac or PC? Mac
Lemmy or Ozzy? Lemmy
CD or Vinyl? Vinyl
Car or Motorbike? Both
Shower or Bath? Shower
Tattoos or Piercings? Tattoos
Robert de Niro or Al Pacino? Robert de Niro
God or Google? Google
So there you have it folks, that is the last you'll ever hear from The Lost Children as seconds after the quick fire questions were wrapped up, Alex took to the other 3 members with a machete, chopping them up 'real bad', if you would like to have a read through their social media pages, go ahead, they're all listed below for you....
Social Media
Musicmuso would like to thank the guys for taking their precious time to complete our little interview, we wish them every success in the future and look forward to hearing from them again in respect of new material , live dates and any other newsworthy information they choose to throw at us - I would also like to add that the band are all still alive, happily playing with their Stylophone whilst drinking gallons of fizzy out of date ginger beer....
