The Long Road Festival, held over the August bank holiday weekend at the picturesque Stanford Hall in Leicestershire, was a wonderful celebration of Americana, Country and Roots music which saw over 70 acts gracing the stages and a vibrant crowd of 10,000 attendees. The event encapsulated the essence of a perfect music festival experience and was enjoyed by all.

The lineup was a feast for music enthusiasts of all the genres on offer. From the solid roots to Americana to foot-stomping country tunes and heart-pounding rock anthems, the festival showcased the incredible diversity of contemporary music. Attendees were treated to performances by both established artists and rising talents, creating an electric atmosphere that resonated throughout the weekend.

Highlights for this reviewer included a fantastic set by Jackson Dean from Maryland USA, his music is gritty and encapsulates a more 'outlaw' style of country which the crowd really enjoyed. Another hit was Malin Petterson, for everyone who has heard Pettersen before, they know it’s her show stopping voice that reins the listener in – and her songwriting that holds them there. With references spanning from the classic songwriting heroes, jazz and country, to the music she grew up with in the 90’s, she brings a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to her own music that seem to be reeling listeners in from all over the world.

There was some home grown talent as well in the shape of Kezia Gill from Nottingham who was just brilliant, with the songwriting ability of an established country artist, the stage energy of a rock star, and the voice of the blues, one thing is for sure, her future is bright and you can certainly expect a lot more from this exciting artist in the future.

Stanford Hall in Leicestershire provided the idyllic backdrop for this musical extravaganza. With its lush green surroundings, historic architecture, and ample space for stages and activities, the venue really enhanced the festival experience. Attendees were able to bask in the natural beauty of the estate while indulging in a musical journey that broke down barriers when it came to genres.

The 2023 Long Road Festival was an embodiment of the power of music to bring people together and create an enchanting atmosphere. With its diverse lineup, breathtaking venue, and a united sense of community, the festival succeeded in delivering an unforgettable experience for both music aficionados and casual listeners alike.

Whether it was the soaring notes of headlining acts or the intimate vibes of lesser-known gems, the Long Road Festival proved that music has the unique ability to transcend boundaries and forge connections that last far beyond the final chord.
