While I have always loved a good remix (or reimagining, if you will), I do think some of them are overindulgent and unnecessary. That is not the case with ‘Not Now Norman’s’ revamp of their previous single ‘Run Boy.’ The single is question is ‘Run Boy Pt. 2’ and it does several things that make it a lovely and vital contribution to ‘Not Now Norman’s’ music catalogue.

The first notable quality is that it remains faithful to the original. The melodies are the same and the theme is similar yet altered enough to still have ties to the original. One significant difference is the beat. It is just as robust, with a more hip/hop based sound. For me, switching the beat up is one of the best things a remix can do. It alters the track drastically without taking anything away from melody or message. Another great thing this track does is add a guest vocalist. Victoria Oswett is a welcome addition to the song and adds great depth to the single. Victoria and lead singer Taylor-Grace bring their magnificent voices together to a compelling result.

This reimagining is splendid and positively adds new elements to the sentiments of the original track. With ‘Run Boy Pt. 2,’ ‘Not Now Norman’ took one of their best songs and made it even better.
