When asked about the upcoming EP, Alexz stated, “HEART EP represents a new chapter in my life. Through heartache comes growth and strength. I can't help but share my personal experiences through my writing and though that can be vulnerable, I wouldn't have it any other way.”

Johnson’s success in TV and film as young adult (Instant Star, So Weird, Final Destination 3) not only landed her a Gemini Award (Canadian Emmy) in 2008, but also helped her garner a massive grassroots fan-following, supporting her loyally across the country this past Fall selling out her national club tour. Alexz’s songs have been featured in the likes of Instant Star, Degrassi (including the theme song for season 11), Pretty Little Liars, and The L.A. Complex. Without the support of a label, her fans have financed many of her musical endeavors, most recently raising over $50,000 on PledgeMusic to help Alexz produce HEART.
