ANDY QUICK has released 3 incredible new tracks, we were fortunate enough to have an early listen.....

It’s always a good day when your inbox announces something new from Plymouth based musician Andy Quick, even better when you open the email to find THREE items within….yes folks, I’ve been busy.

But you know what? I have all the time in the world for Andy, his music possesses an almost timeless quality which appeals to just about anyone with a pulse, the way he fuses blues, funk and good old rock n’ roll to create music that you can’t sit still to is an art form that many struggle to master, in Andy’s case, he’s written the book!

So, let’s lift the lid on the new music and see what’s inside….

‘Kapital K’ is a 4:4 blues rock banger, complete with a confident swagger that sounds like the result of a sordid night in an East London bath house where Ian Dury and The Sweet ‘got it on’. The track effortlessly morphs into a real melodic treat with a sublime stretchy bassline, a flurry of swirling keys, driving beats and Andy Quick’s trademark vocals and guitar sound sealing it all into one exquisite package that is ready to enjoy, hot or cold.

‘Long Face’ dupes you into a false sense of security from the get go, you’re treated to a lush melodic bass line with simple percussion and then BAM! in come the drums, keys and Andy’s guitar. The bass line remains persistent throughout the track, the keys create a lovely bed on which Andy and the drummer really bring things to life. Midway through the track, you’re treated to an immense keyboard solo complete with a shift in key which just adds more depth to this already stunning track. Amongst the jamboree of sound, I can pick out nods to Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ era offerings and other greats that have no doubt stamped their mark on the musical mind of Andy Quick.

‘Standby For The Night’ kicks off with Andy’s husky, bluesy vocals before he’s joined by the rest of the band. This track is more soulful than his other offerings, the overall sound captures the essence of a Northern Soul classic complete with a great rhythm, killer guitar solo and whirling keys that hold the piece together like a sonic band-aid. Regardless of which of his many faces he’s wearing, Andy has the knack of getting it right, he could probably have a bash at a trap infused blues soul disco track and come out of it wrapped in the adoration that his fan base envelopes him in. I’m not saying that he’s the musical messiah (if anything, he’s a very naughty boy) but within the local scene, he’s certainly well loved and admired by his peers and fans alike. As I said in my opening gambit, come rain or shine, Andy Quick’s music is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, a spring in your step and despite the mood of the world, a great positive outlook on life in general.

The videos for ‘Kapital K’ and ‘Long Face’ will be available to view on Andy’s Insta and Facebook pages later this week.

Go forth and explore the world of Andy Quick, you can thank me later!
