Barns Courtney has today announced his new single ‘Fire’, out December 22nd on Virgin EMI, taken from his extraordinary debut album The Attractions Of Youth, which has now surpassed an impressive 100,000 album sales. An already proven live favourite, ‘Fire’ provides a drive and energy that sums up Barns’ rapid rise through the ranks, and which has clocked up 17 million streams to date.
In addition to the new release, Barns is set to perform live on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch on December 17th. He has also unveiled a special one-off London headline show at the Scala on March 22nd. Tickets are on sale now for what is going to be one of the hottest gigs of next year.
Earlier this month, Barns won ‘Sync Artist Of The Year’ at Music Week’s Sync Awards with tracks such as ‘Glitter & Gold’, as well as ‘Fire’, winning him placements across TV, advertising and film. He went on to offer thanks to “everybody at Songs Publishing, Universal Globe and my management team for believing in me, and killing it from the word go"
‘Glitter & Gold’ reached #1 in the UK Spotify Viral Charts in 2016, and Barns’ streaming stats continue to explode, currently sitting at 100 million globally. Barns also recently performed on James Corden’s Late Late Show (watch HERE) and Conan O’Brien, to rave reviews at Reading Festival, SXSW and at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, as well as securing support slots with the likes of Blur and The Libertines on tour.
Barns Courtney has already experienced more highs and lows than most artists could wish to encounter in an entire lifetime. His is a story of family turmoil, bad record industry deals, homelessness, serendipitous meetings with movie moguls and sheer talent and hard work winning out against the odds.
This year has proved a fruitful for him on the UK live circuit. After selling out shows across the US, he returned this Autumn to complete a sold-out UK tour, including an incredible set at London’s Dingwalls and a jam-packed Festival Republic tent at Reading Festival.
2018 is already gearing up to be another exciting year for Barns. Despite only releasing his debut album in September, Virgin have quickly snapped him up again and work has begun on album two, with new music due early next year. His headline show at the Scala will be the perfect platform to showcase exactly how far this young troubadour has come.
