BJÖRK - VULNICURA - ALBUM REVIEW

Many out there mimic her as an eccentric attention whore when more intelligent people will recognize the beauty behind her voice, the message of love, peace and harmony that she uniquely brings to the stage. Whilst she never dominates the airwaves she is always there with a grandiose audience passionate to hear her next project, her latest album Vulnicura will not disappoint, filled with gentle vocal empowering tracks Björk has once again produced another masterpiece project. Despite the initial March release date, the album was spectacularly brought forward to the impatient delight of many an inquisitive music lover.

Inspired by heartbreak, she describes this album, as much more ‘singer-songwriter’ than its predecessors but it doesn’t fail to bring elegance in a way only Björk can produce. There are delicate strings, echoing vocals as well as raw, devoted moments that bring a much more personal and humane appeal to this album, more so than I’ve ever heard on her previous records. That being said, it screams a sound that you will recognize, an electronic dash here and there alongside her iconic vocal style it will not alienate a true Björk adorer.

Her last album Biophilia was a triumph for addressing our universe, the bigger picture of nature that she recognizes whereas Vulnicura as a project moves closer to the human heart. Having been on the music scene for thirty years Bjork in the past two albums alone has proved she can write incredible music about virtually anything she becomes fascinated by, this particular piece of work is moving, heartbreaking, mesmerizing and a triumph amongst her discography.
