Last Friday night Debbie Harry and Blondie took to the stage at The Eden project, one of just a couple of UK shows that they are performing this year.

With the Biomes as the backdrop, Eden has hosted some major artists this Summer including Royal Blood, Bastille, and last night new wave icons Blondie added their name to the list.

Promoting their latest album Polinator, and with Debbie Harry suitably adorned with an accompanying bee head dress, the audience were treated a night of classic hits and new material.

Their 11th studio album features tracks written by Johnny Marr, Charlie XCX, Sia and Nick Valensi (of Strokes fame). Harry and partner Chris Stein have also contributed tracks to what is, a truly collaborative project.

BLONDIE last played Cornwall back in the 90's and on the back of 40 million albums sold there was no shortage of crowd pleasing hits. The Eden project sessions has quickly become THE centre of live summer music in the Southwest and continues to attract global acts with sellout audiences. In a magic and etheral setting, somewhat detached from the real world, fans flocked to see BLONDIE, supported by British band DODGY.

Their live appearances may become less frequent as the years roll by, but Debbie Harry's vocals were immaculate as she moved through an impressive set of global hits.

With Chris Stein on guitar and Clem Burke on drums, the familiar lineup was reassuring in times when many bands live on in name, but not original members.

Will the Eden Sessions continue to attract huge crowds and seminal acts? On this years evidence, there is no reason to think otherwise.
