CHRISTINA PERRI - BURNING GOLD - SINGLE REVIEW
A few years Christina Perri burst onto our scenes with her piano ballad ‘Jar of Hearts’ which was swiftly added to the 'essential power ballad mix' that is sitting in most car glove boxes. Her follow up album ‘Human’ has been less successful over here in the UK than her previous success but new single ‘Burning Gold’ may just become a new anthem for all you soul sisters to declare into your hairbrush when the going gets tough.
A more up tempo fist clenching track that sets the heart on fire with lyrics set to inspire and become inspirational quotes for when you need a pick me up. Rather than addressing a generic love subject, as you would probably expect, this takes on more general life affirming quotes: “I’ve had enough, I’m standing up, I need a change, I’ve had enough, of chasing luck”. Most definitely lyrics set to become an anthem amongst many.
Whilst it's probably inevitable that an artist like this will be drowned out by the ongoing success of Katy Perry and her similar soul structuring anthems, this is a great alternative track to add onto your power ballad car mix tape.
