Colorado raised Missio releases new video for 'I Run to You', watch it here....

Austin-based cinematic, alt-electro artist Missio releases his self-titled debut EP as an independent release on 11th May.

Raised in Colorado, in 2013 Missio moved into a classic Airstream trailer in order to work on his music – uninspired and distracted by the chaos of living in a huge city. He describes how this move elicited an incredibly creative period for him, saying: ‘I became inspired to create songs about my experiences, past and present, giving no thought to oppositions outside of my own mind’.

In the process he says he wrote 52 songs, but for his debut he has selected just five that best represent the year-long story of its creation. The first of these, ‘I Run to You’ was debuted earlier this year, receiving widely positive acclaim. It was featured on influential YouTube channel Mr. Suicide Sheep, while blog Hilly Dilly called the piece ‘an effort that will fit perfectly into times you just want to reflect on life, close your eyes, and float away’ – the track has since had over 650 thousand hits.

Missio says of the creative process: ‘This was the first time as a songwriter that I was able to write for myself, exactly the way I wanted to hear it’, and the video’s producer Taylor King described how working with Missio gave him ‘total creative freedom’. This freedom is obvious in Missio’s soulful voice, over which he has exceptional command and a gift for subtlety and shade.

Visuals are a very important aspect of the work for Missio, and he believes the work produced by Rob Martinez for the forthcoming second single, ‘I’ve Lost My Way’, has breathed even more life into the songs alone. Although he composed the music in relative isolation, he says of these collaborations: ‘It’s incredible to me that two people from separate walks of life are able to unite by way of an inspiring piece of art’.

Excited to continue writing new material, Missio continues to grab hold of his bearings as his music progresses – a difficult task for someone who has performed at SXSW just a few weeks ago. He believes this is the first time things have felt out of his control, but that this lack of control has given rise to the exciting work he’s produced for this stunning debut.
