When the words "hard-hitting" and "London suburb" collide, the result is an unexpected explosion of creativity and humor in the form of MC Hammersmith's debut single, "G.I. Joe".

Hailing from the seemingly unlikely source of middle-class West London, MC Hammersmith, also known as Will Naameh, defies convention and genre expectations, presenting a fresh take on hip-hop that's as charming as it is unconventional.

At first glance, middle-class West London might not be the backdrop you'd expect for a rapper's rise, but MC Hammersmith turns this notion on its head. With a dash of irony and a sprinkle of wit, he embraces his posh upbringing and transforms it into a unique brand of hip-hop comedy that both celebrates and pokes fun at his own pseudo-gangsta persona.

His debut single, "G.I. Joe", while bearing a name associated with action figures, dives deep into his own world of comedic storytelling. This track isn't your typical rap anthem; it's a playful exploration of MC Hammersmith's pseudo-gangsta life experiences, where rhyming showdowns might have taken place at posh tea parties rather than gritty street corners. The lyrics are a clever blend of humorous narratives and unexpected punchlines, reflecting his distinctive approach to writing.

“As a comedian, I always write my raps with punchlines first, then work backwards to fill in the gaps. I wanted to take a different approach with this track and prioritise flow over punchlines. So, with ‘G.I. Joe’ there are certainly bars with punchlines, but they emerged organically as a side-effect of trying to write a track continuous flow. This is my favourite track on the entire album, as it was extremely freeing to write in this manner. The first four bars sum up the lack of premise: No pretention of realness, no premises or no limits, no thought or justification, just bars for three minutes" - MC HAMMERSMITH
