Rukhsana Merrise (pronounced “Ruk-sana”), is amongst the first acts to be confirmed for The Great Escape Festival 2016, which takes place in various venues across Brighton, UK during May 19-21.

2015 has been a great year for Communion’s Rukhsana Merrise, with over quarter of a million plays on Soundcloud, attention from BBC Radio 1, touring with Jack Garratt, Laura Mvula, Bear’s Den, Frances and Leon Bridges, performances at Glastonbury, Somersault and Bushstock and rounding off the year by opening for Oh Wonder on their sold out UK and EU tour.

Rukhsana’s critically acclaimed debut EP September Songs started back in 2014, which marked a significant time for the young songwriter, who set herself the task of writing, recording and releasing a song every week of the month to form the EP. Rukhsana is now in the studio working on her debut album.
