DALTONIANS RECENTLY RELEASED NEW TRACK 'DISAPPEAR'....
It is not everyday that you meet a young person who’s been on the other side. We’ve all heard stories about the white light after the heart stops, and we wanted to know more but Julie remained evasive on the subject.
“It was a simple surgery with 0.5% risks, and I was the 0.5%. When I woke up from my coma, I didn’t have the physical strength to walk, and frankly, I didn’t even have my mental health either. I was stunned, and still afraid of relapsing into a coma. The first night upon my waking, I didn’t sleep. I stayed seated on my bed, having non-stop hallucinations. It was actually fun and I seriously needed this considering what I had gone through. The next day, I wrote down everything I saw and felt when I was unconscious. I
still haven’t read it and I doubt I’ll do it before a long while. But I know it kind of hep me exorcize the whole experience.”
“Young and Tragic” (EP coming out this summer) is not about this. It’s about failed relationships but also about hope and holding on to innocence. It’s also the title of a song by a band called Dead Man’s Bones that inspired the
mood for the EP. It’s a musical cross between Elliot Smith, Sharon Van Etten, and Kurt Vile.
Another EP will be out in the winter on Just Kids Records.
“Disappear” brings to mind bands like The War On Drugs or Arcade Fire, but according to Julie, this is the only upbeat song on the album, and we should expect something more in the vein of the bands listed below for “Young & Tragic”.
“Disappear” was recorded, produced and performed entirely by Julie, but the EP will bring a few guests on backing vocals, and some instruments.
