Devon based superstar band These Reigning Days' track 'Stand Down' to be included in hit TV show 'Revenge', watch the trailer here....

So what’s in a name? Well in the case of These Reigning Days, quite a lot it would seem. When asked where the name came from, lead singer and songwriter Dan Steer tells us:

“All of us had already spent time in other bands and, to be fair, played with some great musicians, but until we got together we hadn’t met the true kindred spirits who shared a musical, aspirational vision. We all knew of each other’s existence on the local music scene and we’d eyed each other up from afar, a bit like that girl you fancy but never dare approach! Anyway, at the end of the first song at our first rehearsal, we all put our instruments down, looked at each other and just knew. I said, “These are our reigning days!” Of course people said things like “No one will be able to spell it (and yeah, they do still get it wrong…) but we stuck to our guns and so far it feels like we’re definitely on the right track”.

The band’s first gig was supporting Metronomy to a crowd of 1000 people. To say that the band had a good reception is an understatement. They attracted the attention of their local BBC Introducing rep and they were one of the first bands to be featured on his radio show when he described them as “…an incredible band. I’m a massive, massive fan.”

The last two years have shown that that early confidence was not misplaced as These Reigning Days have garnered support from some of the most influential people in the industry and gone on to play to on some of the biggest world stages and built up a loyal fan base. Their songs have already been placed in major feature films and on MTV. They attracted the attention of Live Nation in Italy and played in front of 60,000 people supporting Bon Jovi at the San Siro stadium in Milan. Their single Too Late subsequently rose to the top of the Italian charts. In Poland they played the prestigious Polish Woodstock and have now been booked to return there for prime time main stage slots in front of an audience of 500,000 people. They have toured with The Feeling and played at Glastonbury, Liverpool Sound City, Go North and Boardmasters. Their catalogue of reviews is impressive and there is now huge anticipation for the release of their album globally in 2014. They have tours planned in Australia, India, the UK and mainland Europe in the first part of next year. Their singles are being play listed on radio stations all over the world and since being invited to showcase at the prestigious Musexpo in Los Angeles, they have attracted international music industry attention.

“We do enjoy the feeling of “making it” of course, and the thrill of playing on some of the huge stages and in front of the enormous audiences over the last couple of years is the most exhilarating feeling in the world, but the single most important thing that drives us is the passion to keep creating new music. Sometimes in this business, it is easy to lose sight of that. It can be frustrating when you know you have recorded a great album that you want the world to hear, but you have to wait for the right moment for the market and the industry and we therefore cannot wait for the release of the album. We are already writing the next one!”

These Reigning Days music is often described as anthemic, epic stadium rock. It fuses layers of strong but understated guitar lines with a twisting, indie-pop synth sound that quietly drives the compositions. Drawing on a great range of influences their songs, penned by Dan Steer, are memorable, danceable and instantly accessible whilst still retaining much depth for those who want to glean more. Dan’s stunning unique and powerful vocals and soaring guitar are underpinned with a pulsing rhythm section from drum phenomenon Joe Sansome and formidable bassist Jonny Finnis.
