EMPATHY TEST - LOSING TOUCH - EP REVIEW
London based electro duo Empathy Test channel the likes of Depeche Mode, The Cure and even a touch of The Pet Shop Boys with glamorous oozing lyrics alongside dangerous synth sounds to melt your heart into a trance.
From the opening song ‘Losing Track’ that mesmerizes with lyrics ‘its always been you’, there is a slower atmospheric dance vibe as it merges into second track ‘Kirrilee’ which takes me back to sitting down and watching Donnie Darko all those years ago. With wonderful delicate intervals before mixing back into the beautifully haunting vocals from singer Isaac Howlett matched with daringly melancholic synth electronic sounds designed by digital composer Adam Relf.
Third song ‘Last Night on Earth’ almost brings the vibes of The Killers with a wonderfully up tempo track compared to its predecessors that fusions with a heart warming dancing at the festivals desire necessary for the summer months.
Final track ‘Where I Find Myself’ is once again a slower more melancholic track rounding off a brilliantly innovative contemporary electronic synth album from this London duo.
Whilst at times the EP merges into one with four tracks that blend easily opposed to any stand outs, it is still a brilliant choice to listen to under the blinding sunlight with ice pops and flip-flops this summertime in time for the new release due later in 2014.
