Estrons are a four-piece alt-rock band from Cardiff who kicked things off in 2013 when they released their first single on Soundcloud, “Make a Man” and have gone on to open for bands such as Honeyblood and Pussy Riot. They recently released their debut album You Say I'm Too Much, I Say You're Not Enough and are now on their first headline tour around the UK.

This is the second time that I’ve seen Estrons in Exeter (the first being at the Exeter Phoenix with Honeyblood) and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t VERY excited. The Cavern is the PERFECT place for a band like Estrons to play as it is so intimate, It almost felt as though I was on the stage, I was THAT close.

What I love about concerts in Exeter is that they always include a local band which is a great way to discover new music, tonight was no exception and Exeter act Southwest Hotel opened up the evening with an incredible set, they were way better than I expected, especially being such a new band. In my opinion, they’re one to watch over the next 12 months here in the South West.

The next act on stage was a Scottish band called Lucia who are the main support act for Estrons on the tour. The singer was so captivating to watch as she effortlessly took control of the room. There was a slight intimidation when she jumped into the crowd to stare us in the eye as she sang but in a way, this added to the overall experience. I really loved how the whole band looked on stage, there was a sense of passion between all four of them and I really hope that their future is as bright as their appearance this evening.

Then finally, it was time for Estrons. From the first song, I was blown away as ever. I’m surprised I could speak after singing so much! As The Cavern is such a  small space, it was magical when everyone joined in with ‘Strangers’. You could tell you were surrounded by people who really loved Estrons which was demonstrated even more when some of the crowd started shouting out how far they’ve travelled (I think the furthest I heard was a 3-hour drive). My favourite song of the night has to be ‘Killing Your Love’ as Talia’s voice is truly amazing in the song (it is also my favourite song off the album). You can really see how much passion and emotion she puts into her singing, at one point, she even mentioned that she always ends up crying during ‘Cameras’ because of the connection she has with the song. I am always genuinely impressed when watching Estrons. It’s a wonderful album which deserves to be heard, if you’re in any doubt, just stream  it and if you like it (which I guarantee you will), go and buy it! I had an amazing night and I look forward to getting the chance to cover them again in the not too distant future.
