While 2025 is just beginning to kick off for most people, singer Tinashe is already opening the new year with a bang.

In continuation of her world tour, the 31-year-old spent the first week of January performing for her Australian fans. Across two nights, the popstar performed back-to-back song and dance numbers that proved she’s more than just a pretty face and a one-hit-wonder. Indeed, if her jam-packed 2024 is anything to go by, it’s clear that there are big things in store for the American performer, and her world tour is only the beginning.

A year of plenty

If you were to name musicians who really showed their influence in 2024, you’d be remiss to skip Tinashe. A performer since she was a toddler, the dancer and actress turned music-maker. For starters, she opened 2024 as part of the highly-coveted Coachella lineup, where she performed on both sold-out weekends. The next month, in February, she performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk, which has also featured other music icons like BTS and Billie Eilish. Later in the summer, Tinashe went viral following the release of her single “Nasty.” This came after it was featured on TikTok for dance challenges. Soon, the song peaked on the Billboard Charts and the US Rhythmic Radio Chart. In the UK, the same single was named the number-one Song of The Summer on TikTok.

Not one to slow down, Tinashe celebrated the last few months of 2024 with even more achievements. This included her new album, “Quantum Baby,” which is her seventh studio release. Through the album’s eight tracks, she highlighted the vocal chops that have made her an industry darling. This is also why she’s been a staple feature for many other musicians, including Shygirl.

In 2023, the two collaborated on the deluxe version of Shygirl’s debut album. As the year started to come to a close, Tinashe was next seen as part of a special partnership with Ray-Ban Meta’s smart glasses. The latest in wearable tech, these specs are designed to provide fashionable and functional ease for communications, content creation and consumption, and even virtual assistance. In their latest update, the glasses have been powered with Meta’s AI, which is what Tinashe’s campaign showcases. In a series of online posts, the singer is seen with other artists, James Blake and Anderson. Paak uses the AI to request and complete real-time answers, reminders, and tasks. For singers like Tinashe, the glasses & live streaming abilities can even be used to capture first-person perspective content from onstage, like what Busta Rhymes also did using the specs.

What to expect from Tinashe in 2025

As mentioned earlier, Tinashe will be spending a good chunk of her new year travelling the world for her tour. Allegedly, the venues can hold up to 6,000 audience members, which will mark some of the biggest crowds Tinashe has performed for as a headliner. Whereas 2024 saw her touring the US, 2025 will bring Tinashe across the ocean to Europe, Asia, and Australia. From what’s been shared so far, she’ll be making stops in Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Ireland, and the UK. While Tinashe has yet to reveal what else she has in the works for the rest of the year, if last year’s marathon of feats is anything to go by, it’s safe to assume that her fans will have a lot to look forward to.
