FINK dazzled the audience at THE JAZZ CAFE in Camden recently, read our live review....
Fink, also known as Fin Greenall, is an English singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and DJ, born in Cornwall and currently based in Berlin and London. Having a career that has spanned over 25 years, Fink has developed from his early stages as a DJ and Producer to an artist who has collaborated with artists like Amy Winehouse, John Legend and Professor Green. Continuing to explore different styles of music, we managed to catch him at the Jazz Cafe in Camden where he was stopping off to play his latest album, “Fink’s Sunday Night Blues Club, Vol.1”.
Just stood outside the venue, it was clear that Fink was somewhat of an inspiration. Fans praising his incredible musicianship and one particular fan struggling to find words as he passed him in the street. With a line outside with two hours before he took to the stage, it was obvious that tonight was going to be something special.
As the atmosphere built around the Jazz Cafe, the crowd became increasingly populated. Moments before Fink took to the stage, the entire crowd was shoulder to shoulder filling up all areas around the venue. Entering the stage to a huge applause, Fink set about captivating the hearts and minds of fans both old and new.
Throughout each song, the crowd was silenced, not in displeasure, but in awe. Truly stunned by the true musicianship that Fink carries out on stage. There was a sense of pure enjoyment as Fink smiled and grinned through his 90 minutes on stage.
If I were to describe Fink to someone I’d say he’s a cross between the smoothness that coincides with Michael Buble and that raw emotional tone that resonates like John Butler. A blend that compliments incredibly well in what can only be described as dynamic. My notable tracks of the night were “Cold Feet” and “Boneyard”. Two tracks that had blues in droves. “Boneyard” particularly captured my attention with that wicked sounding bottleneck guitar work.
90 minutes of Fink later and the night came to a close, not before a 9 minute jam session, of course. Fink will be back in London later this year, this time taking to Shepherd's Bush Empire on the Thursday 16th November. A much bigger venue but no doubt Fink will absolutely captivate the audience as he did tonight at Camden’s Jazz Cafe.
