Get to know Manny Walters, there’s “No Reason” not to listen....
Manny Walters is an alt-soul singer-songwriter and artist from South Africa. Inspired by the work of Tracy Chapman, Lenny Kravitz and other contemporaries, Walters' distinct and rich voice provides a soulful presence for the listener. His authentic style was developed through years of live performance, as well as his passion to refine and perfect his craft.
Manny returns with the epic funk-soul-rock single ‘No Reason’ that is stimulating from start to finish. Unleashing his full potential, his synonymous reverb-soaked guitars fill the air to introduce the track, and Walters wastes no time in delivering his ground-breaking vocals that you simply have to hear for yourself. The vibrant and groovy drums inject optimistic energy into the listener and informs them that “there ain’t no reason to feel down”, and how could they when there is so much colour and exhilaration coming from Manny’s unique sound.
The music video significantly contradicts the vibrant track we hear. The sublime video opens in black and white with Manny staring at the ground before turning his focus to the camera, standing in what looks like a field that has been deprived of any nutrition for months. He begins to walk forward and take in air around him before telling the audience “Although it’s gone for a minute, we’re still building on”. During the chorus, the speed at which Manny is walking increases, supporting the impactful song writing and the feeling that adversity should never corrupt your soul.
Manny had to connect with himself in order to create ‘No Reason’. He articulates that by doing this he is able to “authentically connect with the world”. I think it's fair to say his authenticity bleeds from this track first into our ears and then into our souls.
