GILL SANDELL has some exciting news about album #3....
Dear one and all,
How are you? I hope life is treating you well...
I am just checking in to announce the exciting news that I will be recording my third solo album one month today! Yes, I have finished writing all the songs, the creation of which began last year on the above piano in a retreat in Herefordshire; continued in the Brecon Beacons this spring and ended a few weeks ago in a little studio in London Fields!
So, on the 9th November, I will be chugging in my little car to Wood Green to begin recording at the legendary Livingston Studios, along with fine sound engineer and friend, Les Mommsen...
I've set myself a challenge by changing from the style of recording that I used for the previous albums, which were created over a number of months, with space for reflection in between. This time, we have 7 days to record the entire album, which involves a bit more planning and rehearsing beforehand and possibly a few more sleepless nights - or at least crammed into a shorter time frame - and plenty of nervous excitement on my part (sorry all while I go a bit bonkers for a while)!
To aid me immensely in this quest are some very talented musicians and long-term pals, many of whom I collaborate with on a regular basis and whom a lot of you will already know. They include: Ali Friend, Sebastian Hankins, Ted Barnes, Anna Jenkins and Jo Silverston, but that is not all! More names to be revealed in due course...
So there you have it. Demos have been recorded with Owen Turner at Sickroom Studios. rehearsals are underway and the songs are coming out of my ears! I can't wait to begin sharing them with you all very soon.
In the meantime.....
If any of you live in or near London and are free this weekend, I'll be at the Union Chapel, playing some tunes on the piano between acts at Daylight Music 12-2pm tomorrow Saturday 10th. And at 3pm on Sunday 11th, I'll be at the Union Chapel again, frolicking about with Mrs H and the Sing-along Band and playing accordion! Both events are free and all are welcome:
