I thought I’d share some exciting news with you all, we have started to create and host EPK’s (Electronic Press Kits) on MusicMuso.

An EPK is a great way of presenting your band/act to booking agents, venues or festival organisers and gives them a clear idea of who you are, where you’re from and what you’re all about.

I often speak to bands and ask how they go about applying for gigs, most say that they find out who books the bands at venues and then send that person a standard email, some bands were horrified when I said that I doubt that anymore than 5% of these emails are ever SEEN by a booking agent or promoter, let alone acted upon as they receive in excess of 100 emails a day, why should they spend time looking at your email?

The way I approach the creation of an EPK is quite simple, it outlines the KEY information that a promoter or booking agent needs to know in order to get you into their venue and on the stage. I use a standard template which includes;

• Biography
• Links to music clips
• High resolution press photos
• Tour dates
• Links to promotional videos
• Links to all social media sites
• Press reviews, interviews and Soundbites
• A list of bands/acts that you are similar to musically (like a 'For Fans of' section)
• A unique ‘Contact’ button which sends an email directly to the band’s inbox

Some online companies charge upwards of £10 per month to host an EPK, this doesn’t cover the initial setup fee which can sometimes be in excess of £50, add this up over a year and you’re easily looking to part with at least £170 before you’re even got a gig! Here at MusicMuso, we know just how difficult it is to get noticed and we really want to help, with this in mind, we charge just £25 for the creation and ongoing hosting of your EPK, this includes regular amendments which can be used to change information or update your gig list to keep people in the know.
