INTERVIEW: Ahead of RATTLERFEST, we chat to Cornish singer songwriter LIZZIE HILL
Ahead of RATTLERFEST which takes place from 19-20 April at HEALEYS CYDER FARM in Penhallow (nr Truro), we wanted to chat to bands and artists performing at the festival so YOU can plan your weekend. Next up is an incredible Cornish singer-songwriter called LIZZIE HILL….
Please describe yourself and your music
My name is LIZZIE HILL and im a solo performer, I’m 17 years old and I’ve been writing songs and playing the guitar since I was 11. I live in Mevagissey on the south coast of Cornwall and I absolutely love it here.
When did your relationship with Rattlerfest start?
I’ve known about Rattlerfest for years as I live in the area, and I’ve seen it on social media too, I’ve always wanted to play it but never had the chance in the past.
Have you played Rattlerfest before? If so, when and if not, what are you looking forward to the most?
I’ve never played Rattlerfest before, but I did Healeys Cyder Festival in 2023 which is the same location and I absolutely loved it! I’m really excited to be playing this year, all that food and the silent disco!
What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?
I was really excited to hear that I’m going to be playing this year, I love the location and all these little Cornish festivals have such a great vibe so I think it’s going to be lots of fun!
From the bands announced so far, who are you looking forward to seeing and who would you hope may yet make it onto the bill?
Me and my friends are definitely looking forward to seeing Scouting For Girls, they’re going to be great.
There is a Rattler Shop onsite, will you be paying a visit for some takeaway produce?
I’ll definitely be checking out the shop, plenty for everyone!
Are you planning on a pasty, ice cream, cream tea whilst in Cornwall?
As someone who is from Cornwall and actually works in a pasty shop, i’ll definitely be having a pasty and an ice cream. Especially if the weather is nice!
Finally, why should a festival punter make an effort to see you guys at Rattlerfest this year?
If you like hearing up and coming local artists you should definitely come and watch my set! I play a mix of covers and originals, with a chilled acoustic vibe, hope to see you there.
