INTERVIEW: Ahead of RATTLERFEST, we chat to rip-roaring Rhythm n' Blues band THE MIGHTY HOWLERS....

Ahead of RATTLERFEST which takes place from 19-20 April at HEALEYS CYDER FARM in Penhallow (nr Truro), we wanted to chat to bands and artists performing at the festival so YOU can plan your weekend. Next up is a rip-roaring rhythm and blues band called The Mighty Howlers.

Please describe your act/band and tell us a fascinating fact that not many people would know...

Over the years our band members have shared the stage with George Ezra, Nine Below Zero, Reef and many more. Our bass player once had the members of Slade push start his tour van!

Who would you cite as major influences on your sound?

Mark Feltham is up there but we all admire works by ZZ Top, Dr Feelgood, Sonny Terry and Rod Piazza.

When did your relationship with Rattlerfest start?

Half of this band have played Little Orchard Cider Festival before so are familiar with the site and organisers/team.

Have you played Rattlerfest before? If so, when and if not, what are you looking forward to the most?

NO! none of us have played Rattlerfest before and we are very much looking forward to it. Obviously we are looking forward to the cider and the people who drink it!

What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?

Over the (blues) moon! Two or us live fairly local to the site and we have all visited the farm in the past, as tourists but also for their Little Orchard Music & Cider Festival. It's a fantastic venue for a festival and very well run.

From the bands announced so far, who are you looking forward to seeing?

Apart from Scouting for Girls, The Zutons and Dick & Dom? Helm De Vegas always puts on a great show as do Blonk 182. I heard Elton John will also be making an appearance!

There is a Rattler Shop onsite, will you be paying a visit for some takeaway produce?

Yes. We plan to fill our boots (and bellies)

Are you planning on a pasty, ice cream, cream tea whilst in Cornwall?

This is what we have every day, isn't this normal for those living over the Tamar too?

Finally, why should a festival punter make an effort to see you guys at Rattlerfest this year?

Who doesn't love some roaring rhythm & blues? We challenge you to come along and try to keep your feet still.
