INTERVIEW: We catch up with JOSH CURNOW ahead of his performance at RATTLERFEST....
Ahead of RATTLERFEST which takes place from 19-20 April at HEALEYS CYDER FARM in Penhallow (nr Truro), we wanted to chat to bands and artists performing at the festival so YOU can plan your weekend. Next up is Cornish singer-songwriter JOSH CURNOW….
We know you’re called Josh Curnow, we know that you are writing an album that is due out in 2024, please tell us a fascinating fact about you that not many people would know...
Interesting fact… I’ve played live to over 10 million people and yet my wife has more followers then me!
When did your relationship with Rattlerfest start?
My first relationship with rattler fest really was playing it in the middle of a Lovely little wood, closing the stage and then watching KERNOW KING do his thing! It was lush and a memory that’s slightly blurry near the end… in fact I’m not sure how I got home?
Have you played Rattlerfest before? If so, when and if not, what are you looking forward to the most?
This year, I’ve been promoted to main state after the little woodland area I played in 2023 got swamped by fellow rattler drinking rascals! It was a bit of a surprise set, so we relied on word of mouth… and they got loud
What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?
We are our own worse critics and despite the awesome crowd that turned up to support me, I still came off stage thinking I wasn’t going enough - being asked back but to main stage this year was truly a warm feeling.. I’m planning on bringing the Cornish thunder to make the rattler rain
From the bands announced so far, who are you looking forward to seeing?
SCOUTING FOR GIRLS are fun! I supported them back in 2016 when I had just got back off Britains Got Talent and not only where they lovely guys, they where good crowd pleasers!
There is a Rattler Shop onsite, will you be paying a visit for some takeaway produce?
I may possibly pop over to get some ‘memorabilia’!
Are you planning on a pasty, ice cream, cream tea whilst in Cornwall?
I’ll probably eat all 3 at some point… jam first!
Finally, why should a festival punter make an effort to see you guys at Rattlerfest this year?
Knee slapping, toe tapping, drink cracking, touch of chatting, no slacking, dance flapping, crowd packing, pure pumping, thumping sing songs with an original or two thrown in… ‘Yeah I’ll drink to that’. See you at the front!
