INTERVIEW: We chat to KNIVES ahead of their 30 minute slot at Bristol's OUTER TOWN festival on April 13th....

Ahead of OUTER TOWN which takes place at various venues in Bristol on 13 April, we wanted to chat to bands and artists performing so YOU can plan your day. Next up is an amazing act going by the name KNIVES.

Please describe your act/band in one sentence

ADHD fueled beep borp noises.

Please tell us a fascinating fact about you or the band that not many people would know

Our band is named after the character ‘Knives Chau’ from Scott Pilgrim Comics.

Who would you cite as a major influence on you/your band?

One of our biggest influences is Rage Against The Machine because they were one of the first bands to combine noisy guitars with punk and hip-hop aspects.

When did your relationship with Outer Town 24’ start?

We have been friends with the Outer Town organisers since the festival started and have always supported everything they have been doing.

Have you played Outer Town Festival before? If so, when and if not, what are you looking forward to the most?

We've actually played at every rendition of the festival. Interestingly enough we weren't meant to play at the 2022 rendition but got a call up the night before as someone pulled out. Here we are back again 2 years later.

What was your reaction when you knew you would be playing there this year?

Excited that we get to spend the day watching sick bands for free (with a 30-minute shift halfway through the day).

From the bands announced so far, who are you looking forward to seeing and who would you hope may yet make it onto the bill?

We are all super pumped for Milos Planes, Death Goals, Getdown Services, My First Time and Cainhurst. We have seen these bands a few times and highly recommend anyone to check them out.

Bristol is an amazing place, what do you love about it?

Cafe Casa. £7 breakfast. Crispist hashbrowns in the game.

Dream Festival Lineup (can be dead or alive)

Dua Lipa, Beyonce, Knives, Charli XCX, Enola Gay, Ronker and Sean Paul.

Finally, why should a festival punter make an effort to see you at the Outer Town Festival this year?

We have two saxophonists, which is pretty cool. Thank you for coming to our TED talk.
