We chatted to Peter Rugman, the driving force behind a tremendous band called THE NONSTICK PANS....
Ever since I was handed a copy of the debut album titled ‘Nineteen Sixty Four’ by a band called The NonStick Pans, I have been keen to get in touch with the driving force behind the band, a very talented multi instrumentalist called Peter Rugman.
This opportunity came after I played the recent track ‘Jennifer String’ on the late April edition of my music podcast ‘muosmuosfm’, I had emailed Peter to let him know that the track had been play-listed and asked if he’d be up for a video interview sometime soon, he came straight back to me and agreed and we set something up. Owing to me living in the arse end of nowhere and my connection being more flakier than a popular crumbly, flaky chocolate bar, the video just wasn’t behaving and after 3 takes, we decided to throw in the towel and change over to audio only, this seemed to work okay!
We chatted about his musical upbringing, key influences on his sound, his approach to recording and just how involved he gets when he’s in the studio. We also chatted about plans for post lockdown which ‘might’ include news of a few live dates (you’ll have to listen to the interview to find out!)
I also persuaded Peter to take part in our world famous ‘quickfire’ question round which was a complete hoot!
If you can spare 20 minutes, why not hit ‘play’ on the link below and check out what Peter has to say, it’s a fascinating listen and if you are yet to be turned on to his music, I guarantee that you’ll LOVE his debut album and other tracks that he has produced since its 2018 release.
