Sara Silveira is a Singer Songwriter, she has worked on tracks with artists and for artists such as D double E, Snoop Dogg, Professor Green, Tempa T, Rolldeep and production with Skitz Beatz, New Machine, Scholar and Stix. She has also worked with Big Talk Productions (Channel e4 UK) & Soundtree Studios.

We caught up with Sara at her 'local' where 'Happy Hour' had just started, we opted for a simple 'half a lager' whilst Sara was eyeing up the cocktail menu, things looked like they could get messy so we kicked off with some questions.

Please introduce yourself and your music in one sentence....
Hi my name is Sara Silveira, please use your ears to interpret my music however you please

You were once in a girl band, what were they called and how did you find the experience?
It was called 'spree', and I enjoyed it, four girls working hard to get their dream of singing and performing! It just got to a point where I realised that it wasn't for me anymore, and luckily we're all still in contact to this day 😊

How has social media aided your music?
There's so many avenues of people finding your music and you and being able to reach out to a wider audience that genuinely likes what you do

There are many solo singer songwriters out there, what makes you different?
You tell me! Haha

Who would you recommend that the MusicMuso readers should check out in 2014?
Ooh there's so many amazing new artists buzzing around! I'm loving Elli Ingram, Breakbeat, Banks, Tempa T's new album's gonna be dope and two fellow Oxfordshirians (if that's a word haha) Teejay and Ella Martini definitely check them out when you have a minute!

What is the best advice you ever received and who was it from?
It would be 'live before you die' and you would have to listen to the snippet on my sound cloud page to find out who told me that 😉

Your vocals were sampled on a Snoop Dogg track, how did that come about and did you ever meet him?
The song 'Be Like Me' is actually D double E's track, I came to the studio one day and was asked to sing it so they could sample me, then further along, I came to the studio again and everyone was there grinning and Dee said he was just recording a different verse and that I had to hear it, so I was like "something's not right"... They're all playing a trick on me! Haha so they handed me the headphones and pressed play.. Low and behold, I'm hearing Snoop's vocal lol! Turns out Snoops a D double E fan and had wanted to work with him for a long time. I am very blessed to have my vocal on the track they decided to collaborate on 😊

Do you have a record that you wouldn’t like to admit you have?
I've featured on songs when I was a lot younger that I wished I hadn't, because I just wanted my voice on anything and didn't even listen to things before lol! But I guess it got me heard so I don't regret it at all! Heehee

What is happening with your new album?
The more I wrote...the better I was becoming so I've challenged myself to keep some of the gooduns but really get the best and different sounds out of myself.  Therefore, the album is an ongoing process whereas the E.P has some finishing touches left to add to it which is exciting because that means I can be gigging it and we can expect a 2014 release! Yayyyyy! 😃

What gives you inspiration when writing a song?
This is always the most difficult question because it's always different, lol. It can be something going on with me, like how I feel, it can be inspired by somebody else, it can come to me out of nowhere or I can decide to write about something, a film, another song, people I come across, people near and dear! Everything! Lol

Who would you love to write for?
Everyone! Haha

First gig you ever went to?
I don't know if this counts but I was on a ferry when I was a kid running around with my brother, and there was a band playing, singing 'my girl' and I just stood and watched the rest of their entire set, the only kid watching a long Motown set! Haha that was my first gig lol

What classic song would you have liked to have recorded and why?
I adore Ray Charles and his song 'Georgia On My Mind' I've got my own version of it, I sing with guitar backing but it's never been recorded or performed to more than 2 people so far... I guess you've just given me an idea 😉

Who would you like to know has your music on their iPod, MP3, stereo Cassette recorder?
If my music made just one person feel good I'd be happy 😊

What does music mean to you?
Music is everything, Nothing less

If you could describe your music in the form of a fictional character, who would it be?
Hahaha Ted. No I'm joking! Lol thats a tricky one... I really don't know!

Do you think we can ever live in a world where a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned?
Of course not, we all wanna know why! You can't understand something properly if you don't know why! 😊

What are your plans for 2014?
You'll just have to wait and see... 😉
