HOPE & GLORY FESTIVAL is a weekend of incredible live music, art and outrageous silliness
in the heart of Liverpool. This brand new festival for Liverpool, taking place on 5 & 6 August, is set against the stunning Victorian backdrop of the World Museum, City Library and St. George’s Hall and Gardens.

Amongst the lineup, which includes JAMES, RAZORLIGHT & OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, is a Swansea based trio called TRAMPOLENE, we chatted to Jack from the band about the Hope & Glory Festival, The Beatles and plans for the rest of the year.

How does it feel to be playing the inaugural Hope & Glory Festival, in Liverpool this August? Have you been to Liverpool before? And do you have any fond memories of Liverpool? 

It sounds like a cool festival, I love the idea of the Victorian theme. We’re really chuffed to be opening the main stage as usually at festivals we seem to play out on the fringes. We’ve been to Liverpool many times, it’s the friendliest city in England. Earlier this year, after a gig, we did a tour of the Beatles childhood homes and, as you do, had a photos taken outside.

The line-up for Hope & Glory is really exciting and fans are in for ‘A Festival of Anthems’. What do you think makes the perfect festival anthem? and what is your favourite? 

A simple sing along chorus is best…all the big boys and girls have one, ‘Creep’ by Radiohead at Glastonbury has to be one of my favourites. The Trampolene album comes out in a few months so by next year's festival we expect everyone to have learnt the words and be joining in with our anthems…init.

Are there any other bands on the bill you are hoping to see?

Reverend and the Makers are old friends and Dave McCabe is a lovely chap. Other than that there is a lot to see, the Hacienda Classical sounds tidy and there are a lot of bands we haven't seen before.

It is 50 years since the release of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s. What do The Beatles mean to you? Do they influence your music? 

The Beatles are legends and have influenced most bands in one way or another. Our song "Imagine Something Yesterday" has, you guessed it, three Beatles songs in the title!

Do you have a favourite Sgt. Pepper’s track?

Sgt Pepper's isn't my favourite Beatles album, but "When I'm 64" is my favourite song off it.

What are your plans for the rest of the year after you play Hope & Glory? 

After Hope & Glory we'll be playing Reading festival, then we have our biggest London headline show in September and we're excited about our album release in the autumn. Happy days.
