JESS GLYNNE rocked Gloucester recently, we were there, read our live review....
Opening up proceedings was upcoming Hip Hop star Jay Prince, despite being the lesser known of the performers, he did a sterling job of warming up the crowd nicely, preparing everyone for Jess Glynne. The crowd happily participated despite most still making their way inside the stadium.
I was chatting to several of the security guards who I'm familiar with who were present for the soundcheck and they all said how Izzy Bizu would steal the show, seeing her at the Radio 1 Big Weekend, I for one was certainly excited to see her again, this time in front of a much larger audience.
Her set was outstanding. An artist that is making some really big waves across Britain, whilst football fans will know her for La Foulle, the BBC theme song. It's staggering that she sounds identical in person as she does on her records, her track 'Mad Behaviour' left the crowd stunned earning a well deserved standing ovation before finishing with 'White Tiger'. She has a stage presence that makes you just sit back in awe and the fact that she is only 22 is quite incredible. Definitely an act to watch out for in the future.
Jess Glynne took to the stage to a thunderous cheer, obviously the act everyone had been waiting for, 14,000+ people created an atmosphere that easily rivalled a last minute Gloucester winning try on a Saturday afternoon!
This was the biggest concert attendance to date, beating Madness, Sir Tom Jones and even Sir Elton John.
With fantastic stage production that really makes her stand out as one of the finest acts of today, her charisma and confidence on stage really added weight and combined with her production values, justified every penny that the crowd paid to be there.
She played a solid set which lasted well over an hour from start to finish which covered her rendition of 'Rather Be' by Clean Bandit, 'Ain't Got Far to Go' really roused the crowd into a frenzied state, which was a spectacle by itself!
'Take Me Home' created a magical sing-a-long moment that was beyond comprehension, the audience joining in and helping Jess out by singing every single word!
By the time she launched into 'Hold My Hand', the place was bouncing, a reflection of the emotion and passion that her songs instil into anyone fortunate enough to be here watching her today.
Jess is embarking on her first arena tour this coming November, dates include Plymouth Pavilions, London O2 and The Echo Arena in Liverpool, tickets are available NOW via her website.
