LA ROUX - UPTIGHT DOWNTOWN - SINGLE REVIEW

I heard a song on the radio a week ago and I instantly thought it was a vintage 80’s track from the likes of Bananarama or Madonna; I was instantly surprised when they announced it was the latest single from English synth pop artist La Roux.

Clashing vintage synth sounds that make you want to don your leg warmers, shell suits and break out the ginormous cell phones, this is most definitely a brilliant up tempo summer track.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of La Roux’s debut a few years ago; I think the fact ‘In For The Kill’ became overplayed meant it became one of those tracks that didn’t warm to me. However, this track had me ready for beaches, sand and cocktails, so despite clearly being a radio friendly choice it hasn’t gotten old on me yet.

She drops new album ‘Trouble in Paradise’ on the 21st July and if other tracks follow this style then it will quickly become a memorable summertime album for me for simply fun synth pop dance tracks.
