Forming the title-track from the band’s upcoming EP out February 11th‘Wrapped In Blue’ follows nostalgia-tinged lead single ‘Stupid Luck’ and rousing second effort ‘Sky Is Falling’, with their anthemic sensibilities and mature songwriting cementing the sextet’s status as one of Yorkshire’s finest prospects.

With the playing influences of Los Campesinos and The Joy Formidable prominent throughout their new material, Talkboy have already succeeded in gaining the approval of several indie press champions (The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Clash, Gigwise, Beats Per Minute, Earmilk) and key radio personalities (Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens, John Kennedy), and with their own live run lined up later this year, the six-piece are primed to take full advantage of their growing profile.

Detailing the track’s origins, guitarist Tim Malkin explained: “I feel like it’s the most arrogant thing ever to use the song title in the description, but when I wrote this it really did feel like everything was wrapped in blue. It’s about coming to the realisation there is so much more to get excited about than this blue exterior you’ve been looking at for ages; you just have to be selfless enough to take some time to look closer at stuff other than yourself. The moral of the story is keep the people you care about as close as you can, they’re your ticket out of whatever it is”.

Self-produced and mixed by Lee Smith (The Cribs, Pulled Apart By Horses), Talkboy’s ‘Wrapped In Blue’ is out January 20th via Come Play With Me / LAB Records and will be available on all digital platforms.

Talkboy is Katie Heap (vocals), Calum Juniper (vocals), Tim Malkin (guitar), Charlotte Jones (keys), Tom Sargent (bass), Jake Greenway (drums)
