Formerly known as the lead singer for rock band D’Haze, Hazel Smith embarks on a solo journey with her new project H A Z E - A cinematic dark pop style with hints of electro, she experiments with other genres such as synth wave and prog rock. Even though words and voices hold a central place in her solo work, H A Z E gives a lot of importance to sound design and arrangements to carefully craft each song’s sonic imprint and create a different ambience each time, along with artistic imagery and visuals.

H A Z E recently unveiled a brand new exciting straight to video track called Shadow.

Shadow is the lead single of H A Z E's upcoming debut EP, scheduled for Spring 2022. It marks the beginning of a new era for the London based artist, shifting into a more polished, more researched blend of sounds.

Shadow tells the tale of a love so deep one gets lost into someone else, past the point of no return. The song blends ethereal electro/darkpop influences and more conventional guitar sounds, - once again designed and crafted by guitarist Jamal Aggoun - with vocal arrangements reminiscent of Billie Eilish's angel-like choir harmonies. Arranged by Jake Thomas and produced at Holywell Studio in East London, Shadow is the promise of a deeply contemplative EP to come.

The video itself - directed by French videographer and photographer Adrien Combes - focuses on aesthetics and plastic arts, emphasising on colours, textures and the shadows they create, all in order to open a window into the darker universe of H A Z E's music and style. The narrative follows the very intimate lyrical intentions of the song, depicting the carnal longing for love and its effects on a subject.
