As debut singles go, Antonio James' first musical foray "Midnight Mirror" is a brilliant introduction to the London producer's chillwave sound. Standing out from the crowd, the track is a wonderfully unapologetic take on neo-R&B. Add to this a multitude of subtle hooks and James' haunting vocals, and you come up with a track that's incredibly refreshing on the ear.
Channeling the feelings of the Weeknd, London Grammar and FKA Twigs, the track is inspired by thoughts of pain and loss and revisiting a former place that was once happy, yet now the aura surrounding the place has changed. James blends the best elements of R&B and electronic music, and creates a musical landscape that is in parts hypnotic and euphoric.
