We caught up with LUCY SPRAGGAN ahead of her performance at Hope & Glory Festival in August....

HOPE & GLORY FESTIVAL is a weekend of incredible live music, art and outrageous silliness
in the heart of Liverpool. This brand new festival for Liverpool, taking place on 5 & 6 August, is set against the stunning Victorian backdrop of the World Museum, City Library and St. George’s Hall and Gardens.

Amongst the lineup, which includes JAMES, RAZORLIGHT & OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, is a fab singer songwriter called LUCY SPRAGGAN, we chatted to her about the Hope & Glory Festival, The Beatles and her plans for the rest of the summer.

Hi Lucy, how does it feel to be playing the inaugural Hope & Glory Festival, in Liverpool this August?

It feels great! I love playing in Liverpool, it's such an iconic city when it comes to music and culture. The line-up is epic so I'm looking forward to watching some other acts.

Have you been to Liverpool before? And do you have any fond memories of Liverpool?

I have! My wife's family are all from Liverpool so we find ourselves over there a lot. When I was on TXF we did boot camp at the Echo, so that was pretty cool. I got a standing ovation in the arena - that's a very fond memory!

The line-up for Hope & Glory is really exciting and fans are in for ‘A Festival of Anthems’. What do you think makes the perfect festival anthem? and what is your favourite?

It has to be a singalong song, something loud and happy. I have a song called "Puppy Dog Eyes" where I make the audience bark... Look out for that one!

Are there any other bands on the bill you are hoping to see?

I'm a big Reverend and the Makers fan so can't wait for them.

It is 50 years since the release of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s. What do The Beatles mean to you? Do they influence your music?

I think the Beatles have a fundamental role in everybody's modern musical career, they were the founders of British pop and wrote songs that will quite literally live forever.

Do you have a favourite Sgt. Pepper’s track?

Pretty sure I'm named after Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, so it's got to be that!

What are your plans for the rest of the year after you play Hope & Glory?

We have a few festivals left and then a 30 date UK Acoustic tour in Sept/October, that's going to be a good one. I'm releasing an Xmas single too! Then I'll be writing for album number 5 ready for the next release!

We'd like to Lucy for sparing her time to chat to us and we look forward to seeing her at Hope & Glory in Liverpool. You can keep up to date with her at the following sites;
