Primed to share the culmination of a year’s work in the form of their new EP, ‘Pearl Tabloid’, London four-piece Lunacre (Ben, JP, Scott, Jacob) have unveiled the first single, ‘Love Being Lost’. The new track makes a beguiling introduction for the previously unacquainted with a heady mix of delicate harmonies and the band’s trademark embellishments. Beginning last year on a high following a packed out launch show at The Water Rats for their previous EP, ‘Schtum’, Lunacre also garnered strong support for the title track and made their way into Spotify’s Fresh Finds, picking up over 150,000 streams in the process. Having only played a handful of warm up shows since their last output, 2018 will see a yet to be announced return to the live circuit and a chance to hear the new material ahead of its release.

‘Love Being Lost’ and the rest of the forthcoming EP were written/produced by lead vocalist and songwriter Ben de Vries over the past year amidst working with David Gray and remixing for alt-J. ‘The perspective that time gives you is valuable, so it was a blessing to that we ended up with a lot of time to reflect on and revisit ideas.’ Featuring contributions from both current and departed band members, the release perfectly bridges Lunacre’s past with the present as their unmistakeable eccentricities now have a newfound maturity. The new single is about ‘feeling suspended, comfortable in routine but with an empty longing’, mirroring the EP’s paradoxical title by exploring a precious yet disposable existence, happy to drop everything and return to ‘memories of being more complete.’ With a blissfully anthemic chorus that’ll be hard to shake from your mind, ‘Love Being Lost’ may be a bittersweet and introspective reflection, but it’s also an undeniably uplifting song for the summer.
