We chatted to Manchester indie 4 piece DANTEVILLES ahead of Liverpool's HOPE & GLORY FESTIVAL....
HOPE & GLORY FESTIVAL is a weekend of incredible live music, art and outrageous silliness
in the heart of Liverpool. This brand new festival for Liverpool, taking place on 5 & 6 August, is set against the stunning Victorian backdrop of the World Museum, City Library and St. George’s Hall and Gardens.
Amongst the lineup, which includes JAMES, RAZORLIGHT & OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, is a fab Manchester based indie 4 piece called DANTEVILLES, we chatted to them about the Hope & Glory Festival, The Beatles and plans for the rest of the year.
How does it feel to be playing the inaugural Hope & Glory Festival, in Liverpool this August? Have you been to Liverpool before? And do you have any fond memories of Liverpool?
We’re buzzing to be playing the festival especially with it being the first one! We’ve actually played a couple of gigs in Liverpool and obviously know the heritage of the place when it comes to music, but not too sure if it can rival Manchester ;) I reckon Jamie has a lot of fond memories as he has a load of family from the city.
The line-up for Hope & Glory is really exciting and fans are in for ‘A Festival of Anthems’. What do you think makes the perfect festival anthem? and what is your favourite?
The perfect festival anthem consists in our opinion of a massive chorus and big hooks. A tune that creates a sense of euphoria. A tune that could be sung on the terraces. A major one being ‘Fools Gold’ by Stone Roses
Are there any other bands on the bill you are hoping to see?
Obviously the Haçienda Classical a bit of Ocean Colour Scene and The Blinders.
It is 50 years since the release of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s. What do The Beatles mean to you? Do they influence your music?
The Beatles mean a lot to most bands. I think personally between us all you grow up listening to the Beatles, it’s like one of your first lessons in music. I’d say they influence us yeah! Especially in the vocals, we really strive to create harmonies that are above all else, with two lead vocalists I suppose its hard not to take some form of influence from the Beatles!
Do you have a favourite Sgt. Pepper’s track?
‘A Day in the Life’ is a favourite with its descriptive nature, you can easily capture the imagination. There’s a reference to Blackburn, Lancashire too (where Jamie/Cory are from) I don’t think there’s a song anywhere else that references Blackburn!
What are your plans for the rest of the year after you play Hope & Glory?
We’ve got a few more festivals to finish the season off, not sure many will top our main stage slot at Kendal calling though! But its all about getting in the studio, we’ve got a load of new material on the way; the time of Dantevilles is coming!
We'd like to thank the guys for sparing their time to chat to us and are looking forward to catching their set at Hope & Glory this weekend. Keep up to date with the band at the following sites;
