Stockholm-based recording artist Mapei, who achieved both success and critical acclaim with her first single "Don't Wait," has announced the release of her highly-anticipated debut album, Hey Hey, on February 9th 2015 via Columbia Records/Downtown Records. Her new single "Change," is out now and you can watch a performance of the track here.
With its uplifting, positively-politicized message, "Change" finds the Rhode Island-born artist building on the universal themes of love and acceptance introduced on her debut single. "We change with the season," Mapei says. "Make sure it's for a good reason." The club-ready track – along with "Don't Wait"and the majority of Hey Hey – was produced and co-written by Swedish producer Magnus Lidehall (Katy Perry, Sky Ferreira, Britney Spears). See below for the complete Hey Hey tracklist.
Mapei recently announced that she will be the main support for Lykke Li, a fellow Stockholm native and her onetime roommate, on her 14-date US tour this fall. Kicking-off in Seattle on September 17, Mapei and Lykke will tour across America, including an appearance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and more dates to be announced. "I am beyond excited and thrilled to announce that my dear friend Mapei will come on tour with me," says Lykke Li. "It is insanely symbolic to me as she's been my idol ever since I saw her the first time when I was 17. She was the coolest thing I've ever seen and she dared me to follow my dream.... First stop was her Bushwick apartment and many open mics, bruised hearts, blood, sweat and tears later we will join forces again to tour America. Don't you dare miss it."
Mapei has experienced milestone growth since "Don't Wait" first surfaced online. An undeniable hit – with over 8 million combined streams, four Hype Machine no. 1s, a month-long stint on Spotify's viral chart, and remixes with Chance The Rapper, Frankie Knuckles and Kingdom – "Don't Wait" continues to impact culture.
