MARY JOANNA & THE SOUTHERN ELECTRIKK ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE 'WASTED'....
Mary Joanna & The Southern Electrikk are fronted by the enigmatic Mary Joanna Coogan. The niece of actor/comedian Steve and daughter of his brother Martin, lead singer of The Mock Turtles, Mary is known for captivating audiences with her soft yet sinister vocals and incredible stage presence.
Formed in Manchester, and with only a handful of gigs under their belts so far, the band have been invited to make their London debut at the 12 Bar Club in Soho on November 7th, supported by Band of Holy Joy who will be performing an acoustic set, with frontman Johny Brown also taking care of the evening's DJ duties.
Mary Joanna is backed by Rikki Turner (Paris Angels) on keys, Steven Tatji (Paris Angels, Rude Club) on bass, Spencer Birtwhistle (Interstella, The Fall) on drums, Stephen Evans (Twisted Wheel) on guitar and newcomer Zack Davies also on guitar.
The band's unique blend of dark synths, biting guitars and gritty bass lines interlaced with Mary’s stunning vocals allow them to effortlessly blend Post Punk, Psychedelia, Electronica, Dream Pop and Krautrock, gaining airplay and winning fans all over the world.
Wasted, their debut single, will be available as a digital download from 22nd September.
