Looe Music Festival is three days (29th Sept - 1st Oct) of superb live music in a magical setting on the stunning Cornish coast. A ‘grown-up’ music festival where camping isn’t a prerequisite, where you can visit for the day or the weekend, stay in comfort and eat like a king.

We heard that a Manchester based post punk band called Membranes were on the bill, being a massive fan of the band and John Robb's other punk rock band Goldblade, I thought it would be good to catch up and chat about the festival, here's how we got on....

Please takea moment to introduce your band and tell people why they should come and check out your set at Looe Festival this year

Membranes are beyond natural law. We reformed after 26 years and recorded a double album Dark Matter/Dark Energy that got the best reviews of our career and despite being a double album about the universe, sex and death is our best selling released. Inspired by a chance meeting with the head of the Higgs Boson project, the album literally went into deep space.

 

Looe Music Festival always puts on a great range of bands, both local, national and sometimes international, which acts are YOU most excited about seeing this year?

I did the first ever interview with The Jesus and Mary Chain and we were on Creation records at the same time when all the madness started so have always been interested in their adventures. We played with them a few months ago and they sounded great. Black Grape are amazing at the moment and I'm fascinated to see what Lulu will do - but to be honest the whole bill has many highlights!

UK festivals can often be messy affairs, please tell me your top three tips to surviving one?

Always carry a suit of armour and never stand in one place too long...

You’re a Manchester band, how did the opportunity come about for you to perform at this year’s festival?

The curious modern phenomenon of the internet opened up this opportunity - really looking forward to it - for us Northern tribes going to Cornwall is like going to another country - it's so far away!

Looe Festival takes place quite late in the year, have you been to any other festivals this year either to play or just as a festival goer? If so, which stood out most for you?

Played many festivals this year - we actually played another beach festival in croatia called superuho which was amazing.
 

Picking the three headliners for Looe Festival must be quite a tall order, who would YOU choose for 2018?

Shellac, Goat, Siouxsie

 

Lastly, there are a ton of bands and acts out there, please tell me the name of one that we should invest some time in?
