MTV hit Plymouth this week and along with a slew of daytime events including Q&A's with some of the music industries leading faces, local musicians and artists, a massive show was put on at Plymouth Pavilions with a killer list of acts made up of PALE WAVES, THE AMAZONS, YUNGBLUD and THE VACCINES. We were there to cover the entire event and grab some quality photos of all acts, read on to see how we got on.

Pale Waves did a tremendous job of opening the event, playing tracks lifted from their debut album My Mind Makes Noises, the crowd instantly tuned into their airwaves and they received a brilliant response.

Having seen them support The 1975 in Exeter a few months ago and fresh from supporting MUSE at the Olympic stadium in London, this Manchester alt-pop quartet are destined for massive things, definitely a band to keep your eyes on these as they’ll soon be a household name!

The Amazons took to the stage and immediately set out their stall with some meaty treats from their recently released sophomore album Future Dust which gained a much deserved top ten place, clearly the dreaded second album syndrome didn’t affect these guys one iota! Mix in some of the strongest tracks from their self titled debut and you have yourself one hell of a party!

I chatted to Joe Emmett (drums) after their set and asked him if they have any plans to head into the studio to start working on tracks for album #3, he laughed and said that they have a very busy festival schedule ahead of them and are particularly excited about supporting MUSE in Europe as well as their slots at Reading and Leeds festival in August.

Yungblud, took to the stage dressed in a red boiler suit, pink socks and a pair of black brothel creepers and proceeded to kick out a super lively set. This enigmatic entertainer kept the audience on boil throughout his performance and come the end, I was tired shooting him from the pit, he just wouldn't stand still for a second!

Standout tracks from tonight’s set for me included ‘Anarchist’, ‘Loner’ and ‘King Charles’. It was great to see him after his performance signing autographs and posing for selfies with the audience, not many artists do enough of this so it was nice to see him engaging with as many people as possible. With a HUGE fanbase behind him, Yungblud is an act worth keeping an eye on as it won't be long until he is catapulted into the mainstream.

The Vaccines released their 4th studio album Combat Sports in Mar 2018 and from the reviews I’ve read it is a return to form, echoing the style that they delivered on their first two long players. Justin Hayward-Young prowled the stage whilst Freddie Cowan looked uber-cool knocking out the classic guitar riffs that make up their trademark tracks.

Their set spanned their back catalogue and included the latest offering 'All My Friends Are Falling in Love' but it was the big hitters such as 'Wetsuit', 'Post Break Up Sex', 'If You Wanna' and 'Norgaard' which really set the room alight and got the crowds up and bouncing along.

Come the end, the audience were spent, we had witnessed four incredible acts on the same bill and judging by the smiles on people's faces, they couldn't have asked for anything more!
