Well folks, I can safely say that it is January 31st, who knew that January actually has 225 days in the month, I know, it says 31 but you know as well as I do that there were FAR more than 31 this January!

This is the FINAL playlist of January, from #13, we will be safely ensconced in February and beyond, not that anything happens in February, apart from it being a shorter month and another month closer to warmer climes!

I have been a busy bee, curating some of the finest tracks from bands and artists all over the world and I can safely say that if you like new music, you really want to keep your eye on my playlists as there will be a new one launching every 3 days certainly until the end of March 2022 (maybe even longer!)

Underneath the embedded playlist below, you will find a summary of some of the bands and artists that have been included, please take a moment to read the blurb and if you like what you hear, click on their socials, give them a like, a share, a kiss, whatever you like but show them some love!

Monody

Monody is a solo producer and musician born in Bristol, UK, now living in Utrecht, NL. After years of touring, collaborating on multiple projects and running a DIY label, they took a 5 year hiatus from music to reconnect with their passion and creativity. The debut album ‘Blue’ under new project Monody is the result.

Hailing from Bristol, they pull on a strong musical heritage; a dark downtempo, trip-hop core with minimalist electronic and post punk influences. The result of this unique mix is a thick brooding sound, with strong rhythms, raw lyrics and a captivating powerful vocal delivery.

The album was released in March 2021 but as usual, I am late to the party but what I will say is that after a few listens, this has become a mainstay on my own playlist and I look forward to future material from Monody with a real sense of excitement, you should too!

The Bellwethers

The Bellwethers formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 2010 and are made up of Fran Scianna: Vocals, Guitar, Piano. Kim Zinevich: Vocals, Harmonica. Bill Stimson: Lead Guitar. Dan Scianna: Bass. Corey Plueard: Drums.

Citing influences including Jane's Addiction, Pink Floyd, The Raconteurs, Smashing Pumpkins, The Bellwethers have opened for international acts like REO Speedwagon and the Fran Cosmo band (former members of Boston).

Asked about the album, they replied, “This is a rocking, solid, front to back, top to bottom rock and blues album. It has great lyrics, haunting melodies, guitar riffs that make you swoon, and a pounding rhythm section. But, if you dig, it has layers like an onion, and this paper is actually just a scraping of the surface of the analysis and comparison that could be done on this stellar body of Arizona Music.”

Brune M

Brune M is a solo female artist. A French singer and classically trained violinist who performs with symphonic orchestras every month. She  moved to the USA when she was 18 years old and pairs up with different music producers for each single.

For her latest track ‘Tides’, she met Phoenix Clay Hollingsworth, the producer, through mutual Colorado friends. It was recorded in her home studio in the CO mountains and mixed and produced in Phoenix's studio.

Asked if there is there a particular ethos behind the single, she replied, “Our planet is beautiful but we have to take care of it, as we take care of ourselves. The song is about the ups and downs of life, and that no matters what, one just has to go on. We are all going on this lifelong ride, so we better flow with the tide”.

She cites electronic as her main influence, this ranges from EDM, Synth-Pop, featured bass and artists such as Illenium, Rezz, Billie Eilish & DeadMou5

Asked if there were any notable moments encountered during the creation of the track, she added, “The whole team of 10 people spent 2 days in the Sand Dunes. It was cold, and we had to carry all our gear up and down the dunes, but we captured pure magic!”

We couldn’t agree more, check it out, check it out NOW! (click on the YouTube link below to watch the video).
