musomusofm on the radar playlist #16 - James Sebastian, Salt, Pylon Heights, Terry K 3TL and more....
It’s February 7th 2022, sounds like the start of an episode of Star Trek from the 1960’s….except now we really are living in 2022, okay, we’re not flying around in cars, wearing foil suits and eating protein packs that look like tablets but we are here, enjoying everything it has to offer.
Amongst the things on offer is new music, bucketloads of it, I really do sit here from day to day and wonder where the ideas come from, it must be a very fine art (songwriting) as I wouldn’t even know where to start!
Amongst the tracks on this playlist, there are some real bangers to discover, underneath the playlist, you will find details of our featured bands and artists, take 5 minutes to have a read of their bios and click on their social media links, have a dig around, like and share some stuff if you feel like it, the band will thank you!
When you’re ready, hit play and let the next 30 minutes take you away from all of tour 9-5 stresses and strains….
See you on the other side!
James Sebastian
James Sebastian is only 20 years old but has already pledged to bring the sunny groove of the 70s back to the world. With hair down to his shoulders and a hearty number of flowery shirts, he lives the music he loves. Inspirations include the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Elton John and, of course, we couldn’t leave them out… the mighty Beatles.
Having performed heavily around Exeter in the previous few years, James has taken on such prestigious venues as the Exeter Cavern, the Lemon Grove and the Old Firehouse as well as being featured extensively on BBC Radio Wiltshire, Castledown FM and Exeter University Radio.
Of the track, James added, “Trying to capture the beauty and freedom of being in your own little world of imagination, "Lemon Sunshine" is my attempt to bottle the feeling of a summer daydream. You don't need anybody else to make you happy and I hope the track shows that to you. You are the new rock 'n' roll!”

Salt
Salt are Sharon Woods on Vocals, Robin Woods on Guitars, Simon Kettles on Bass and James King on Drums. The band came about when Robin found out his wife was a great songwriter in her previous band. As a result of a Christmas present of a drum practice with adopted son James, it all came together.
This song will be on their new album "Fairytale on Fire" - to be released on Feb 14th on HX Records. This is a vinyl only release, proper old school! A select few tracks are being released digitally by Animal Farm, Tumbleweed is one such track.
Of the track, they say, “Looking back to the hedonistic days When folk had too good a time and felt on top of the world...But the routine of it all becomes dull like a bad joke….Tumbleweed rolling through our life… It’s meant to be a fun song, or at least poking fun at something that’s meant to be so fulfilling that is really empty and as pointless as a drugged up monkey. No monkeys were harmed writing this song.”

Pylon Heights
Pylon Heights are Christopher on guitar, Heather on vocals and Jon on keys/guitar/vocals/trumpet/drum machines.
Pylon Heights influences include The National, Public Service Broadcasting, Beirut and Bombay Bicycle Club, although their previous two singles ‘Midsummer’ and ‘The Bridge’ took them in a different direction. A blend of our more acoustic tendencies with Jon’s more recent synth pop obsession, inspired by bands such as Miami Horror, Big Black Delta and Joywave.
‘VHS’ is a real return to the music Christopher and Jon were making in 2016, with Heathers vocal delicacy really drawing in the Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Stevie Nicks influences. The acoustic guitar line written by Christopher was heavily influenced by the works of Scott Hutchinson and Frightened Rabbit.
‘VHS’ is mainly a POV account of a breakup, and the cascade of emotions that follow it. They feel that ‘VHS’ unequivocally captures the highs and lows of a break up (and everything in-between) with its range in instrumental dynamics, volume and use of space.
Asked about radio and TV appearances, the band added, “A Song for Sarah, Arizona, Lost at Sea and Midsummer have all been played on BBC Introducing, and we’ve been invited to join the show at some date in the future once everybody’s back in the office. Aside from this, Christopher was an extra in the 'Dad's Army' movie (paper boy #1, uncredited).”
The single was mixed and mastered at the Solid State Logic HQ in Oxfordshire, where Jon works! They recorded the tracks themselves between their home studios in Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire. The Demo was recorded almost immediately in Christopher’s living room (on his Samsung mobile) after Heather and he had finished a 2nd or 3rd draft of the song.
They have also started producing a series of Live Session videos on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, where they perform stripped-back and alternative versions of their music. They also released their first music video last year, for ‘Midsummer’ which can be seen HERE

Terry K 3TL
Niagara-on-the-Lake Canadian country singer-songwriter Terry K 3TL recently released his latest single “No One Needs To Cry” which delivers a reflective love song about getting and giving second chances in a new single “No One Needs To Cry”.
“No One Needs To Cry” is the fourth track to be lifted from his Tell Me A Story album expected in Spring 2022. The ethos behind the single and his music style is the 20/20 reflective nature of love. It is a song about getting and giving second chances and at least trying to get things right. Written from the artist’s personal perspectives, the lyrics reflect the thoughts and emotions experienced at the end of a love interest. Fans of songwriters like Kris Kristofferson, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Waylon Jennings will certainly tune into this.
